They've Got the Look

Between the conclusion of the reality show featuring wannabe models over 35 (Congrats Tanya!), Fabsugar showing some love for Esther CaƱadas, and the press warming up to Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, cougars supermodels are definitely enjoying a lot of attention.

Wait. I think I've misused term cougar. Since neither of these women are prowling bars in search of younger prey, perhaps I should use a different word.

Taking a cue from the extensive dictionary of Filipino gay slang, let's switch from "cougar" to "thundercat." Don't let their seemingly similar feline references mislead you. One arrives at "thundercat" via an elaborate etymology:

The Filipino word for old is matanda.
Thus, we shorten it to tanda.
Tanda is phonetically similar to the English word thunder.
The cartoon series, Thundercats, really only means something to a certain age group (this means you, thirtysomethings and up).
And that's how thundercats became the kinder, gentler term for women (and men) of a certain age.

Yes, it's true. Thundercat supermodels are having the best week ever.
